The NW Learning Health Systems Center of Excellence and K12 is pleased to announce the launch of the LHS Leaders Webinar Series. This series features webinars by leaders in learning health systems science. Speakers share their career pathway and thoughts on future directions in LHS science. Webinars will also feature an opportunity for questions and answers from attendees. Once this program is off the ground, we hope this series can rotate through the different COEs to serve as hosts. DR. MARK HElfand

Mark Helfand, MD, MS, MPH, FACP, is Professor of Medicine and Professor of Medical Informatics and Clinical Epidemiology at OHSU. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and practices hospital medicine at the Portland VA Medical Center. He founded the VA Evidence Synthesis Program Coordinating Center in 2009 and was the director until 2023.
He directs the AHRQ Scientific Resource Center for the Effective Health Care Program, and is a founding member of the steering committee of the Health Experiences Network, the US branch of Dipex International. He is a founding member of the steering committee of the Health Experiences Research Network, the US branch of Dipex International.
Dr. Helfand has served on the Methodology Committee of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute since 2011 and was Editor-in-chief of Medical Decision Making from 2005 to 2012. Dr. Helfand received a BA and BS from Stanford University, an MD and MPH from University of Illinois Medical School, and an MS in health services research from Stanford University.
